Why the new twist on tubing?

Here’s what to expect when you choose Littmann® Stethoscopes’ satin finish tubing.

How do you carry your stethoscope?

When you’re walking from room to room, listening to patients’ heart, lung, and bowel sounds, your stethoscope goes with you. Do you wear it around your neck or stow it in a pocket? Do you like to show it off or keep it safely tucked away?

No matter how you wear your stethoscope, it needs to go the distance. That’s why we recently introduced Satin Finish tubing.

Available for the Littmann Cardiology IV™ and Classic III™ Stethoscopes, Satin Finish offers the same performance as the uncoated tubing, but with added personality and comfort.

Here are five things you can expect when you choose a stethoscope with Satin Finish tubing:

1. Four new colors. Bored with black? Satin Finish tubing is available in four colors: alabaster white, marine blue, midnight blue, and champagne rose. Choose a color that matches your scrubs, your style, and your personality. My personal favorite is Champagne Rose!

2. Not made with phthalate plasticizers or natural rubber latex. Healthcare professionals can rest easier knowing their stethoscope doesn’t contain natural rubber latex, a common allergen.1 The next-generation tubing is also free of phthalate plasticizers, which may negatively impact human health and the environment.2

3. Easier to clean. Satin Finish tubing withstands repeated cleanings just as well as our uncoated tubing; however, it’s more resistant to stains, alcohol, and skin oils, which gives it even better longevity potential.

4. A more flexible feel. The Satin Finish tubing is specially-formulated for a silkier more flexible feel. Not only does it feel good to the touch, but it’s also easier to fold and stow compared to Littmann Stethoscope models with uncoated tubing.

Satin Finish tubing bends to fit into your pocket with less risk of instrument damage. And when you take it out, it will return to its intended shape.

5. Less likely to stick to hair or clothing. The Satin Finish has a soft, sleek feel that attracts less lint and debris than uncoated tubing, so it looks like new longer. It’s also less likely to stick to your hair or clothing. If you have long hair, you can say goodbye to “sticky” patient encounters and awkward-looking hip clips.

Littmann stethoscopes are known for their reliable design and superior performance. The Satin Finish tubing brings added comfort and style to one of the healthcare industry’s most trusted clinical tools.
